GE Money & Giant Bicycle, Inc. Provide Biking Enthusiasts with Consumer Financing Program

GE MONEY SPORT CARD AVAILABLE THROUGH U.S. GIANT BICYCLE DEALERS

GE Money announced a multi-year agreement to provide consumer financing for Giant Bicycle, a leading supplier of bikes in the U.S. The GE Money Sport Card, managed by GE Money’s Sales Finance unit, provides cyclists with a convenient revolving credit program and special promotions that makes buying a new Giant bike as easy as riding one.

Customers can use the card to purchase Giant Bicycle’s line of performance and recreational bicycles, components and accessories at participating Giant dealers nationwide. The application process is fast and simple, and dealers will enjoy complete online financing program management via GE Money’s new web-based suite of tools that provide access to all the sales, operational, marketing and training resources they need at the click of a button.

“Bicycling has long been a favored pastime in the U.S., and today’s economy makes riding a bike even more appealing,” said Elysa Walk, general manager for Giant Bicycle. “As more people look to purchase bicycles and accessories, we’re excited to work with GE Money and provide a financing program that makes these purchases more convenient.”

Bicycle riding has increased in popularity in the U.S. – in some cities by more than 35 percent in the last two years, according to America Bikes, a non-profit organization that advocates for positive outcomes in bicycling. According to the National Sporting Goods Association, 44.7 million people age 7 and older rode a bicycle more than six times last year, up from 40.1 million in 2007 and 35.6 million in 2006. Additionally, The U.S. Census Bureau reported in its
2007 American Community Survey
that more than 650,000 people use a bike as their main vehicle for commuting to work and school
